1Broke in two months  Oct 30, 2009
By Extremophile
I used this lightly for a few weeks, and yet: 1) it turned inside out during the first moderately windy day, 2) it became permanently stuck open when I accidentally opened it with it wrapped up. This happened right at the 60 day return mark, so I can't even return the dang thing. I'm now looking at a different brand that's even cheaper for the same idea and sold locally.

What's funny is I've got a Totes umbrella that's lasted me 3+ years that I bought for $25. It's just too bulky to fit in the lockers at the gym, hence why I bought this one.

1it broke after two weeks  Mar 11, 2011

i used the umbrella twice...the first time no wind, no problem.
the second time, there was a wind gust, the umbrella turned inside out, several of the ribs broke off and the umbrella became useless... this is an overpriced piece of junk

1Broke in 12 months  Feb 09, 2011
By OJ*NYC
This very pricey umbrella broke in 12 months. I bought it because it was "guaranteed for life" from OREGON! I did not even use it that much; the nylon ripped apart on the top with no warning and for no apparent reason. Customer service at shedrain.com did not return my email... Although I enjoyed the nice design, it really didn't live up to my expectations, and I will NEVER BUY AGAIN FROM SHED RAIN. At least, they could have sent some apologies or something... They preferred to hide.

1Pricey and not reliable  Oct 19, 2011
By Stanley
Bought it for $24 as a replacement for a $7 chinese junk which lasted 2 months. Well, this one didn't last a day. Broke after 20 minutes walking in rain and very mild wind. The string mechanism at top of the handle which keeps the umbrella open is extremely unreliable. Something snapped off and now the umbrella cannot be rigidly fixated in open position. Piece of junk.

4Great Customer Service  Apr 26, 2011

ShedRain has a lifetime warranty, which has pretty reasonable terms. I bought this umbrella and within the first month of using it I got caught in the tornado that hit NYC last summer. It bent the pole and the umbrella would get stuck opening up and resetting. It was still functional and just needed a quick manual fix. It worked fine for several more months until I got caught in another huge storm, which was blowing umbrellas out of other people's hands or ripping the fabric right off the frame. The ShedRain was still able to hold up pretty well and the frame was completely intact to my surprise and I had full coverage from the storm. Sadly, the umbrella was broken as the next day, the umbrella would not open. I contacted ShedRain via email and they said send it in and they would replace mine with a brand new one. Sent it in and a week later after them confirming that they received my umbrella, I got a new one sent to my door.

My only gripe is that sending it from NYC to ShedRain cost $18, it would've been nice if they would reimburse the cost of shipping the umbrella to them. But, hey to get a brand new $40 umbrella shipped to me - all for $18 is reasonable enough for me.
