Some Pros & Cons Jun 13, 2010

I purchased two of these umbrellas; one in each color. Originally, I had wanted the Gustbuster Classic in Black because it had been rated for wind gusts up to 55mph, but good luck trying to find one! I then realized that if I was outside during a storm with 55mph winds, the least of my worries would be my umbrella, and most likely it would be raining sideways so I would still be soaked. With that said, I started to look for a solid plan B, and this is what I decided on. Right out of the box, I really liked the over all look of the umbrella. It has a darkwood matte finish shaft. I was very glad it was not glossy. I knew the gloss would wear with time and that it would be harder to hold onto during a storm. The auto button is in the shape of a hexagonal onyx jewel. Imagine your grandfather's cuff links or tie clasps and this is about the look. I didn't find it to be tacky though as the other reviewer did. The tip of the umbrella is rubber. There are only two things keeping me from giving this umbrella 5 stars. First, it does not come with a case. I plan to keep these in the trunk of my car and there is always the chance that they may get scuffed or marked by something I'm carrying in my trunk. Secondly, the wrap-around closure is secured with velcro, however there is a brown button on the wrap-around tie itself that makes it look like it should be buttoned. I supposed most people prefer a velcro closure to a button one, but the faux button in my opinion looks a bit tacky. With that said, I would still buy this umbrella again in the future and I would even give it as a gift...especially the black one. Nothing is better if it rains than a classic umbrella at work or on a date.

Nice umbrella Nov 23, 2010
By Mark Reeder Exactly what I was looking for: the umbrella is sleek, professional looking, big enough without looking like I should be on a golf course, and the wood shaft is beautiful.

By Patrick Papadopulos This umbrella feels and works like a much more expensive one. The details are fantastic and I haven't had any problems with it even in moderate to heavy wind. I give it my full recommendation.
